We have a number of landowners in Mid Devon who have land available over which to hunt with hawks. The land parcels range from 70 acres to 400 acres, as well as a number of mid sized parcels in between.
The parcels are generally free of pylons, large rivers and other obstacles that would hinder hawking. The season is coming to an end so any agreements are likely to be for the 2011 season, which starts on the 1st October.
The land is available for experienced hawkers to hunt with their own hawks as no guidance or tuition will be provided.
Offers are welcome as to the rent to be paid. Rents for this type of agreement usually range between 50 pence and £1 per acre. The quarry should be discussed with the landowner prior to an agreement being drawn up, to ensure that their sporting interests are not disrupted. But it is likely to include rabbits, crows, magpies and pigeons.
The lessor will be paying our commission although a contribution to prepare any written agreements may be required.
